We all know God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh and final day. (Genesis 2:2)
This serves as a prophetic calendar for the world following.

First we must understand that a day with the LORD is a thousand years to us.

Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past.

2 Peter 3:8
Beloved be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day with the Lord is a thousand years, and a thousand years is as a day.

This tells us what God created in six days, prophetically represents six-thousand years to us. God rested on the seventh day, which is one thousand years to us.

Creation took six days, but God, according to
Isaiah 57:15, inhabits eternity and is therefore outside of our time domain. God is outside of time; thus He could have completed creation in zero days. This is documented in Psalm 33:6, which tells us that  By the word of the Lord, the heavens were made........For He spoke and it was done. He spoke and it was done; no time was required.
Yet the Bible records that God did, in fact, create the universe and everything that dwells in it, in six days.

The Genesis account also records that on the seventh day God rested and instituted the Sabbath (meaning rest). Without a doubt, God was not tired. So why the chronology of the seven days of creation when God could have done it in a moment of time?
He was revealing to us His plan of redemption, which was to be carried out over 7000 years.
Isaiah 46:9-10 ......I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.
Looking at the concept of 7,000 years of time a little closer. The Rabbi's taught that there were 7,000 years of time. They divided time into a 6000-year segment followed by the 1,000-year Messianic kingdom. They based this on Psalm 90:4. What the Rabbi's taught was that as the week of creation was 7 days, that is seven 24- hour days, and each day stood for a thousand years with the seventh day as a day of rest -- the day of the Messianic Kingdom.

So by the six day theory we are taught that the world would go on for six thousand years and we would find rest in the final one thousand years or the seventh day.

Where do we stand now in relation to the six day theory?

From the time of Adam until Christ, four thousand years passed or four days. This can be figured by carefully following the genealogy of Adam, considering the time the Jews spent in Egypt, the reigns of the kings of Judah, the Babylonian captivity, etc. Many scholars have done these calculations.
Archbishop Usher in 1650 AD calculated back from the birth of Christ, based on the dates and chronological data given in the scriptures, and arrived at the date 4004 B.C. for Adam's creation. Thus Christ was born approximately 4000 years after the creation of Adam
(which would be the end of the forth "Day").

If we knew Jesus' exact birth date, then going forward 2000 years would tell us when 6000 years will have passed and the "Day of the Lord'' begins. Jesus should come again to redeem the earth, according to the law of redemption, after six days or 6000 years.

Because of the Gregorian Calendar reform and other calendar adjustments that have occurred over the years,
(Also, note that there is one year between 1 BC and 1 AD.) therefore, we don't know where we stand in exact relation to the six days. But we can figure, we must be standing at the door!

Looking for more clues on this subject.
Hebrews 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest.
OK, believers rest. Hebrews 4:4 For he spoke in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, and God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

Clearly, God has set apart the 7th day as the day of rest, the day of the Messianic kingdom.

Hosea 6:2
After two days he (Jesus) shall revive us, in the third day he shall raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. After two days, or two thousand years.

We should be winding up the the two days right now. The third day would be the beginning of the "Day of the Lord."

 In
Matthew 17:1 Jesus gives three of his disciples a visual presentation, which I believe supports the six day theory. After six days, Jesus took Peter, James, and John to a high mountain and was transfigured before them. After SIX DAYS and was TRANSFIGURED.

Our Lord was showing these men a glimpse of his glorified body and symbolically at the end of the sixth day, as will be with true believers at the end of the sixth day, at the time of the Rapture of the Church. A time of the redemption of our bodies.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, (die) but we shall all be changed/transfigured. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump. and Philippians 3:20-21 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able to subdue all things unto himself.  Change our vile body to be like his glorious body. Just like he showed Peter, James, and John. Known as our "glorified bodies".

I trust this has stirred something inside you. To realize the Lord's coming is so close at hand.
We know not the day nor the hour, but we know it is at hand.
Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
