What does this have to do with the end times?

Luke17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; .....................

Luke 17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. How was it in Lot's day? Sexual immorality was rampant.

Jude  7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh (adultery), are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

 We find Sodom and Gomorrah were to be examples to us, so we wouldn't have to suffer eternal  fiery vengeance. It seems so many aren't worried about suffering eternal fire, or don't know the Word of God, but this is one of the signs for the Lord's return. As it was in Lot's day.

  These days the traditional values are mostly forgotten. There are many broken marriages due to adultery. We find those that marry over and over again, never considering their sacred vows till death.

Matthew 5:31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 32But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

  It depends on the grounds for the divorce, whether or not it's legitimate. If it's not legit, then the second marriage couple is living in adultery. So, as you can imagine many couples married today are actually living in adultery. Don't you know Satan is just loving it.

1 Corinthians 7:10And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 11But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. 12But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. 13And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. 14For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. 15But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases There's a divorce scenario : but God hath called us to peace. 16For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?

  Kids are becoming sexually active younger and younger. Sexually transmitted diseases spreading like wild fire. All these things come about by our disobedience to God.  

 The world has turned from it's first love. Now we've replaced God with our pleasures. Lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God 2 Timothy 3:14.

 It was never intended to be this way. God originally laid out the union between man and women in

 Genesis-2:24Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

 Ephesians-5:21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

 Proverbs 5:18Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. 19Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. 20And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? 21For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings. 22His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. 23He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

  We see that marriage is a very sacred act before God. When a man and a women join together sexually, they become as one flesh. This actually seals the matrimony. In Old Testament times, on the day of the wedding, the groom and his friends dressed in their finest clothes and went to the home of the bride. Together the couple went back to the groom’s house. Their friends sang and danced their way back to his house.

  Once at the groom’s house, the couple was ushered into a bridal chamber. The marriage was consummated through sexual union as the guests waited outside. Once that fact was announced, the wedding festivities continued, with guests dropping by for the wedding feast. It's not till the joining of the flesh that the marriage is actually formed.

There's the problem for our day. When someone is joined together in the flesh, the union has formed. If this person goes out and joins to another while already being joined, it is called adultery.

  In the Ten Commandments God emphatically prohibited adultery when He said, Exodus 20:14Thou shalt not commit adultery.

 Although God gave the Ten Commandments to His people through Moses at Mount Sinai more than 3,000 years ago, they are still relevant today. They have an abiding significance, for God’s character is unchangeable. These laws originate from God and from His eternal character; therefore, their moral value cannot change.

Almost 1,500 years after God gave the laws, Jesus upheld them, calling them the "commandments" and listing six of them for the rich young ruler. Matthew 19:16And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 18He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

  And in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus showed that His coming had not canceled the Commandments. He specifically mentioned the laws against killing (Matt. 5:21) and committing adultery (Matt. 5:27).

 We see the importance of being true to our spouse. The breaking of this commandment is the breaking of the law. After that, the only way to be forgiven is through the blood of Jesus. 1John 1:7..... the blood of Jesus Christ ... cleanseth us from all sin.

  Under Mosaic Law, when a couple was caught in the act of adultery, both parties were to be killed, Deuteronomy 22:22 If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: This woman was married and consenting to the act. Outright adultery. This punishment would certainly discourage others wouldn't it?

Deuteronomy 22:23If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed (engaged) unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; 24Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour’s wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you. This woman was engaged but still willing.

Deuteronomy 22:25But if a man find a betrothed (engaged) damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die: 26But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: 27For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. She was unwilling.

  Adultery is willful sexual intercourse with someone other than one’s husband or wife. Jesus expanded the meaning of adultery to include the cultivation of lust: Matthew 5:27Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. 29And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

We see, adultery is a very serious offence! Taken way too lightly these days.

Proverbs 6:32But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. 33A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. 34For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. 35He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts. Is this  lustful act worth your very soul? Today there are many that seem to lack this understanding. If the jealous spouse doesn't get them God will.

  Occasionally, the marriage covenant was used as an analogy to describe God’s relationship to His people. When the people of Israel and Judah refused to obey Him, or when they practiced idolatry, the prophets accused them of spiritual adultery, Jeremiah 3:8And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also. 9And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.

 The record of the woman taken in adultery—who, according to the law of Moses, should have been stoned to death—reveals the wisdom, mercy and grace of Jesus. John 8:3And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

 He knew that her accusers were not without sin; and, therefore, they were being self-righteous when they condemned her. When Jesus said to her, "Go and sin no more" He did not excuse her sin; He forgave her of it and warned against continuing in adultery.

 Here's a whole list of immoral sexual disasters. Leviticus 20:10And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. 11And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. 12And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them. 13If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. 14And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you. 15And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast. 16And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. 17And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity. 18And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood (minstrel cycle): and both of them shall be cut off from among their people. 19And thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister, nor of thy father’s sister: for he uncovereth his near kin: they shall bear their iniquity. 20And if a man shall lie with his uncle’s wife, he hath uncovered his uncle’s nakedness: they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless. 21And if a man shall take his brother’s wife, it is an unclean thing: he hath uncovered his brother’s nakedness; they shall be childless.

Adultery and fornication are only fun for a short time.

  Adultery plays havoc with personal, domestic, and national happiness. A case in point is David’s affair with Bathsheba. Their adultery led to a cover-up, which was followed by the murder of Bathsheba’s husband.

2 Samuel 11:2And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. 3And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? 4And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house. 5And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child. Nathan the prophet later came to David, accusing him of his sin and declaring that because of it, violence would become common in David’s household.

2Samuel12:9Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. 10Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. One disaster after another struck his family. The death of the baby, rape, murder, and revolt (2 Samuel 13–15).

  Adultery reached epidemic proportions in Jeremiah’s time. The prophet repeatedly spoke out against this and other sins.          

Jeremiah 7:9Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;

Jeremiah 23:10For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right. The problem was so rampant that even the other prophets of Jerusalem were guilty of it.

Jeremiah 23:4I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah. Adultery will certainly come to a terrible end.

The apostle Paul catalogued a series of sins that would exclude a person from the kingdom of God. The sin of adultery was included in these lists. 1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind (gays), 10Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

 In the same category as gays.

Galations 5:19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Yikes!

 That means that a whole bunch of people living today are in danger of the fire that burns forever.
